Prof. dr hab. Piotr Girdwoyń
In 2007, Piotr Girdwoyn became the Director of the Forensic Science Centre at the University of Warsaw, where in collaboration with, among others, the Warsaw University of Technology, the National Academic Computer Network and Polish Security Printing Works he has been involved in many scientific projects. In 2016 Prof. Girdwoyn was elected the Director of the Institute of Criminal Law at the University of Warsaw. In 2017 he became a full (tenured) professor of the University of Warsaw. In November 2017 Piotr Girdwoyn was appointed Chair Professor of Criminal Justice College of East China University of Political Science and Law in Shanghai, China (2017-2020), and Visiting Professor of College of Medicine and Forensics, Xi'an Jiaotong University in Xi'an, China (2017-2018).
In 2020 Prof. Girdwoyn was elected as a member of the Senate of the University of Warsaw, member of the Board and member of the Scientific Council of the Polish Forensic Association. On 16th Feb. 2021 Piotr Girdwoyn once again took the role of of Director of Forensic Science Centre at the University of Warsaw. He teaches i.a. Evidence Law, Introduction to Forensic Science, Trial Advocacy, Artificial Intelligence in Criminal Law and Humanitarian Forensics Action (NOHA – Master of Humanitarian Action, University of Warsaw).
Since 2011, he has been a member of the Warsaw Bar Association and since 2018 has been a partner with the Pietrzak Sidor & Partners Law Firm. Piotr Girdwoyn specialises in criminal law, evidence law (particularly with regard to all forensic science questions), medical misconducts, IT-, AI- and other new technologies cases.
He speaks English, German and Russian.
