The Constitutional Tribunal: the law on billings and phone-tapping are not compliant with the Constitution
On 30th July, 2013, the Polish Constitutional Tribunal ruled that some of the legal grounds for the operational control, the secret service’s control over the telecommunication data and rules of destroying wiretaps obtained from public trust professionals are not compliant with the Constitution of the Republic of Poland. Adv. Mikołaj Pietrzak represented The Polish Bar Council in this case.

ECHR decision in the case of secret CIA prisons
The European Court of Human Rights in Strasburg found that Poland had violated seven of the rights guaranteed by the European Convention of Human Rights in the case of the CIA’s secret prisons on Polish territory. Adv. Mikołaj Pietrzak represents one of the applicants – Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri.

Adv. Mikołaj Pietrzak participated in the Advanced Seminar of Criminal Law in Brussels
The conference took place on June 19th – 20th, 2014. Its aim was to look over the latest trends and current legislative initiatives concerning criminal law regulations and administration of justice in EU Member States as well as to discuss judicial cooperation between Member States of the European Union.

Adv. Mikołaj Pietrzak participated in a the debate on “The role of legal professional privilege and the right to a defence in proceedings before the anti-monopoly authority in Poland”
The conference was organized by the International Chamber of Commerce in Poland. Participants of the debate discussed, among other issues, the situation of controlled entrepreneurs and the scope of the right to refuse providing information about their communications with lawyers.
